Got this less than half price! but its worth the full price. The pictures are very clear and have good color. It is relatively quick compared to the camera I had before so you can take action shots. Easy to focus on the subject, and also takes nice...

Do you want technology or picture quality? The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W270 certainly does the tech, but while it might improve your hit rate of good shots, the outright quality is underwhelming. The handy zoom range and super-fast AF raise the W270 above...
Elegant design ; Easy for beginners ; 5x wideangle zoom ; Super-fast autofocus
Indifferent picture quality ; No zooming in movie mode ; Advanced options quickly become complicated
The HD movie mode is worth having, even if it is only 720p rather than 1080p. But this is no alternative to a camcorder. The quality is there, but you can't zoom during shooting

This point-and-shoot is a good performer, though we have some issues with its design.
5x optical zoom lens; 28mm wide-angle optics; effective image stabilizer; HD video recording
Average image quality; some buttons hard to operate
For S$499 (US$388.45), the W270 is quite an affordable camera for its class. Its main draw is the 5x optical zoom lens with 28mm wide-angle focal length and HD video recording. Casual shutterbugs who aren't fussy with image quality can consider this...

The Sony W270, or W270S for the Silver camera, is a camera that has a 5x optical zoom so you can get closer to your shot without affecting the image quality at all. Using the best photography technology available the stylish cyber-shot DSC-W270 has the...
The Sony DSC-W270 is a really high quality digital camera giving fantastic quality images without the camera costing a small fortune to buy. If your looking for a camera to take family or holiday shots this is a great digital camera for that, if your...
The camera has a Carl Zeiss lens which is 28mm in size giving you the ability to shoot larger images than most digital cameras do. These features make the Sony W270 one of the best digital cameras available.

Sony's Cyber-shot range of compact cameras is divided into four main groups: the simple and affordable S-series, super-slim Ts, a hybrid H-range and a high-spec, but pocket-friendly, W-series. The 12-megapixel DSC-W270 is a high-end model packing an...
Metering and colour rendition was generally good, though, but Sony's usual vibrant greens can be tiring with landscape shots. Indoors, colour accuracy with video was superior to the yellowy orange cast seen in stills, but this was offset to a degree by...

Are you interested in the W270? Perhaps you don't need a wide-angle lens, or would prefer a bigger screen? Well, Sony has something for you. One step above the W270, the W290 is identical with a 3'' screen instead of the 2.8'' on the W270. One model...
720p HD Video ; Intelligent automatic mode ; Simple interface
Memory Stick cards ; Some problems with finishing ; Narrow viewing angles on the screen ; Lens not even ; No optical zoom during video
The W270 isn't a bad camera, but the images it produces lack detail and it really struggles with sensitivity. In short: there are better options, even at this price.
We wouldn't recommend the W210, cheaper than the others but without image stabilisation, but the W220 and W230 are stabilised and almost identical. Finally, certain colours are only available on certain models. Only the W270 comes in gold (like the...

This camera does not really stand out from the crowd. It takes a decent enough snapshot and its features include a wide angle lens and High Definition movies. It is just lacking that killer reason for making me say, go out and buy this camera.
Ease of use - shutter lag times with flash
Macro mode could get in closer - one or two of my test shots were soft
There is not a lot wrong with the Sony Cybershot DSC W270, although one or two of my shots could have been sharper. It puts in a fair performance and has some useful features. Even so it is difficult for me to come up with reasons to buy this camera...

Sony W270 - a stylish compact camera with 28mm wide angle lens and 720p HD movie mode. Should the W270 be the HD compact to find itself onto your wishlist? The What Digital Camera Sony Cyber-shot W270 review investigates...
Optical SteadyShot, small size, 720p HD video, Advanced Dual Shot mode, great for day to day snaps
Limited image quality, LCD quality lacks, macro mode limitations, poor battery life, Memory Stick Duo type only
The Sony W270 is a great little camera that's dinky enough to slip into a pocket and carry around anywhere. Its features list - whilst small - cover the main lists of basics for your basic everyday shooting; ideal for those not looking for...
On the upside the addition of 720p video, SteadyShot optical stabilisation, Advanced Dual Shot mode, respectable low-light performance and an underlying simplicity in use get the thumbs up. Make no bones about it, the Sony W270 is a to the point, well...

Does Sony's latest high-performance compact carry on the good work set by previous cameras in the Cyber-shot W Series?
Sony's cameras remain synonymous with style, but for the price the W270 feels like it's trying a bit too hard with all the onboard gimmicks

Launched in February 2009, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W270 is a 12.1 megapixel compact with a 5x optically stabilized zoom lens and a 2.7in screen. Launched at the same time, the Cyber-shot DSC-W290 is identical in every respect but with a slightly larger...
Ease of use.; Slick design and build quality; Smile shutter feature.; Fast flash recycling
Slightly soft image quality.; Proprietary storage and port.; No optical zoom while filming
Sony's Cyber-shot DSC-W270 / W290 is a good value compact with a high resolution 12.1 Megapixel sensor, flexible 28-140mm zoom range and a wealth of features aimed at getting best result in most situations for the point and shoot photographer.
Neither model has an optical viewfinder. For this review we tested the W270 model, but beyond the screen size, everything you see here, including image quality, applies to the W290
