I'm glad i've got finger nails the buttons are very small, but so is the camera so i supose you can't have it both ways

Small and light for what it does - seems to be made well, it functions
Too much hype about this camera, or the rest must be rubbish! picture quality is not all that fantastic. some where along the way, the picture gets grainy and noisy - is it bad electronics or bad jpeg compression ? I don't know. when you pay this much...

Good point and shoot and I like the burst, and the trimming feature
Would prefer to have an instruction book as opposed to having to download. Some of the instructions are not basic enough for me as I am not technically minded

The DMC-ZX1 features a 25mm ultra wide-angle 8x optical zoom f/3.3-5.9 Leica DC Vario-Elmar lens (35mm film camera equivalent: 25-200mm). Incorporating Panasonic's advanced optical technologies, this lens system is comprised of 9 elements in 7 groups, with 4 aspherical lenses / 6 aspherical surfaces. Panasonic achieved the world's first incorporation of 0.3mm super thin aspherical lens, mold and mass production is difficult, into the lens unit. This makes it possible to fit the 25-200mm high...

Why bother looking at any of Panasonic's other numerous 12-megapixel compacts now that the Lumix DMC-ZX1 is here? It beats the whole lot for zoom range and, from the look of our test shots, image quality too, yet it's no bigger. The DMC-ZX1's only real...
Useful zoom range ; Great lens quality ; Solid build quality and controls ; Small size
Over-enthusiastic noise reduction at all ISOs ; Very close to the Lumix DMC-TZ6 and DMC-TZ7 in terms of price and features
Conclusion The Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZX1 is a great little camera that delivers an unprecedented zoom range for its size and also manages to produce clearer and sharper pictures than the majority of its rivals. Its build quality is excellent and its...
The only problem is that you can get the DMC-TZ7 for a little more money, or the DMC-TZ6 for a little less

Panasonic's 12.1Mp Lumix DMC-ZX1 is a well-balanced, meat-and-potatoes camera that does several things well.
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZX1 won't bowl you over with fancy looks or features, but it's a rock-solid, affordable camera that offers a lot more than an entry-level shooter. Panasonic has hand-selected the features and specs that nicely split the...

Panasonic have managed to squeeze a full 12 megapixel sensor into this teeny weeny compact camera
Quick and resonsive ; 12.1-megaixel sensor ; 8x otical zoom (25-200mm equivalent focal length range) ; Lots of hi-tech and helful Scene and Ai modes ; Neat and comact
Tiny buttons on the to and rear ; No manual or semi-auto shooting modes ; The zoom lever can be difficult when making finite adjustments ; Noise levels at anything above ISO 200 ; Flash roblems with macro hotograhy
Small enough to slip into a shirt top pocket and light enough to go unnoticed in a handbag, the DMC-ZX1 is an ideal camera to take with you to get some happy snaps. It's impressive that Panasonic's managed to fit in so much when you consider the...

Average look, handful of features and excellent performance. This compact camera has got many things right except for the price.
Fast lens ; Very good image quality ; 25mm wide angle lens ; HD (720p) video recording with 8x optical zoom ; Easy to use
Expensive ; Ordinary look ; No manual mode
A capable compact camera with a long zoom and wide angle lens that performed well in various shooting conditions but overpriced.

The compact long-zoom competition is seeing a new contender and it looks like this Lumix is here to stay.
Compact size; 25mm optics with 8x zoom; effective image stabilizer; decent image quality; solid build
Mode dial easily turned to wrong position; uninspiring camera design
Although the ZR1 doesn't have a zoom range as long as its TZ siblings, it is a good all-round compact shooter. There are minor quips we have with this Lumix, but ultimately, we were won over by the effective image stabilizer and decent picture quality....

Boasting a 25mm angle 8x optical lens we discover if the new Panasonic ZX compact's bite is as big as its bark
On the whole a rather average performer producing a barely adequate level of quality. However the healthy focal range, abundance of scene modes and the ability to exercise a modest level of manual control justify it's rather ambitious price tag…just.

The Panasonic Lumix ZX1 may be small, but it has big ambitions, cramming in a wider optical zoom than you have any right to expect from a camera this compact. But how does this super-zoom snapper stand up to closer inspection? We find out in our...
Great zoom range for such a small camera, and it doesn't come at the cost of quality
Nothing specific, but how about a touchscreen next time Panasonic
For a compromise between size and zoom range you won't find better than the ZX1

Panasonic's Lumix ZX1 is the size of a standard skinny compact at just 26mm, but it packs in some impressive specs including an 8x zoom, 12.1 megapixels and 720p video shooting and some super-swanky Leica elements.
The Panasonic Lumix is the definition of a compact camera – it's just 26mm deep and tips the scales at 138g, a full third below its Lumix stablemates ; The secret is its super-thin Leica lens elements, which allows the ZX1 to slim down to levels its...
The Lumix ZX1 does little to offend, and the Intelligent Auto mode can do pretty much all the work if you want it to. We'd like to see some more manual controls, and optical viewfinder and a touchscreen, but we're just being picky
Panasonic gets top marks for cramming unlikely amounts of tech and a solid performance into a tiny body. If size matters but you still want a decent zoom range, it's about as good as you'll find.

Inheriting the fine rendering and outstanding quality of the Leica Elmar lens, this easy-to-carry camera delivers beautiful pictures any time, any place. The DMC-ZX1 sports a powerful 8x optical zoom lens (35mm film camera equivalent: 25-200mm). This gives you highly natural expressions from people and animals that you can't get close to. It also lets you zoom in when taking movies. And its slim, compact, pocket-sized body can easily go wherever you do - for both everyday snapshots and traveling. The Extra Optical Zoom uses the center of the CCD to further extend the powerful 8x optical zoom when a resolution of less than 12.1-megapixel is used. This extends the zoom ratio up to 15.6x (35mm film camera equivalent: 390mm) for images with 3-megapixel resolution or less. Adding the Extra Optical Zoom to the 4x digital zoom extends the total zooming power to a maximum of 62.5x (35mm film camera equivalent: 1,563mm).The DMC-ZX1 lets you snap off consecutive shots at approx. 2.3 frames per second in full resolution. You can take a series of shots, then choose the one you like the best and delete the rest. You can also select high-speed Burst mode or Flash Burst mode from Scene mode.
