Leica M Typ 262: photography in its purest form

No auto focus, no video, no live view... Das Wesentliche

Design ; Purity ; Exclusivity

Leica M-D (Typ 262)

The Leica M-D (Typ 262) rangefinder handles like a film camera but offers the convenience of digital capture.

Pure rangefinder experience. 24MP full-frame image sensor. Bright optical viewfinder. Brass construction with black paint finish.

Expensive. Omits auto ISO. Ultra-niche appeal.

The Leica M-D targets ascetics with indulgent budgets

I can't hold back: I have to take out my mockery stick and bash the Leica M-D with it. After all, at $6,000 (£4,650; Australia pricing unavailable, but that's about AU$7,900) it's not only more expensive than most other full-frame interchangeable-lens...

Leica M-D (Typ 262) Review

Leica has announced the M-D (Typ 262), a model very similar to the Leica M (Typ 262) but without a rear LCD monitor, to provide purists as well as the nostalgic a more film-era shooting experience.

The Leica M-D Typ 262 will be available from May 2016, for a list price of US$5,995. That's about $800 more than the LCD-equipped M Typ 260.

Leica M (Typ 262) Review

The Typ 262 is either a streamlined and focused version of the Leica Typ 240 or a lesser version depending on who you ask. The Typ 262 does not have the video, live view, or full menu system of the Typ 240, but the Typ 262 is around 100 grams lighter...

If you'd like to buy the Typ 262, you should perhaps get some accessories from Leica's new '0.95' collection as well.
