The Sony VAIO VGC-LS25E ($1,999 direct) has the foundation of a PC that would be perfect in the bedroom, den, or kitchen. It addresses a major shortcoming of last year's VAIO VGC-LS1-the lack of an HDTV tuner. Yet a couple of flaws carry over from the LS1...

Compact all-in-one form factor. Looks like a widescreen TV. Attractive clear polycarbonate frame. Integrated webcam. Wireless keyboard and mouse. Now with HDTV/ATSC tuner.

No HDMI or component-video input. External IR receiver and HDTV tuner are deal breakers. Short (60-day) Internet security subscription. No HD optical drive.

The Sony VAIO VGC-LS25E addresses one of the shortcomings of the previous LS1 model, yet still has deal-breaker missteps. A couple of necessary dongles threatens its "all-in-oneness."
