Review: HP ProLiant DL380 G5

Review: HP ProLiant DL380 G5This HP 2U server offers slick, clever design and is an all-round class act

Top build quality and internal design ; high PCI-e slot count ; plenty of storage possibilities ; quality management features ; well-featured Raid card and Systems Insight panel

Dual-core rather than quad-core Xeons

HP's fifth-generation rack server delivers on all counts, with a quality mix of components, superb design and expansion capabilities, plus a classy remote management act.

Well engineered expandable server

To the previous reviewer who obviously knows nothing about commercial server equipment, you should probably research a system before spouting off. The P420i controller DOES support RAID 5, but it is an integrated card that requires an add on for more...

Like others in the HP Proliant line before it, this server seems to be meticulously well designed and laid out internally. The build in P420i controller works wonderfully, and even with the single E5-2609 processor it is able to handle several...

None really. Price? Yeah, you could build a custom server for less, but you lose the warranty and dependability that this system offers. If you plan on installing a server for any medium sized business or up for critical tasks, white box just isn't the...

Form + Function + Power + TCO + HP = 24/7 Luxury Class Computing

Don't want to shell out the $$$ for a SuperDome? [1] Buy a 42U Rack. [2] Buy 20 of these DL380 G5's. [3] Max out the G5 hardware. [4] Install the G5's in the 42U rack. [5] Cluster, load balance, and interlink with fiber optic. Note: Abandon RAID 5 of...

Lamborghini-ish 2U ultra dependable HP machine obviously designed for the perfectionist in us all.

Are you kidding??

Great server

This server runs quiet and energy efficient compared to older generations of HP servers.

All G5 servers can only run on SAS disks so if you have an older generation server and is looking to migrate, keep in mind that you have to not only buy the SAS disks but you will also have to migrate all the data.

Good Machine but HEAVY

Case locks in two places and is very sturdy

Clean build, case and hardware are designed to max air flow. Easily expandable

This thing is heavy, so it should make someone think twice about taking off with it. The fans have a tendancy to come loose and need to be pushed back in if the server is moved

Excellent Choice For Exchange 2013 - NonProfit Group

I recently purchased this server to replace our dying Exchange 2010 server. For a medium sized organization with about 350 email boxes, the virtualized Exchange 2013 runs flawlessly. This purchase, as with all my other major purchases, will provide a...

HP ProLiant DL380p Gen8 High Performance

Have setup multiple environments from Server 2012 with Hyper-v configured and VMWare ESXi 5.1 with nothing but beautiful performance. Availability for maintenance is well laid out internally and the normal HP dependability with the array controller and...
