Apple iMac 27in

It's true. Big can be beautiful.

The 27in iMac may not be flawless, but it is peerless. The few improvements that could be made don't detract from the fact that this is quite simply the best iMac, and possibly even the best Mac, Apple has ever made.

27-inch Apple iMac (late 2009)

Apple's iMac has gone from the bulbous fruit-coloured models to a glorious large flat screen with a computer bolted on to it over the last 10 years. But should you think about adorning your desk with one? We did just that to find out. The iMac 27-inch...

Screen, storage, graphics, design

No Blu-ray, no wall mount feature, lights can play havoc with your glossy screen

The iMac 27-inch is a stunning computer that is only let down by how good it actually is. That crystal clear and clean screen performs beautifully, however that means that unless you are watching or working in HD, everything will look, well, just not...

Apple 27-inch 3.06GHz iMac review

The 27in screen has a huge 2,560x1,440 pixels. This is roughly equivalent to four 13.3in MacBook displays stuck together. The screen has a glass finish that reflects light from overhead sources, causing distracting glare. It's very bright, though -...

Apple's latest iMac is desirable, but it's neither an entertainment all-rounder nor a true powerhouse.

Apple iMac 27in review - desktop PC reviews and video

Bigger, better and with a multitouch mouse, the new 27in iMac is the world's most covetable computer. Should you start preparing your desk?

Astounding looks. Excellent screen. Silent operation

Over-designed peripherals

Apple iMac review (21.5-inch, 27-inch)

The new Apple iMac design lends itself more towards use as central part of a home entertainment centre, as well as boasting top-end performance. [Updated with Quad-Core i5 and i7 speed tests, November 20, 2009]

Apple's flagship iMac comes in a variety of flavours and two sizes, with the £1,349 model we've been using being the sweet spot. It offers the most value for the price and could spur desktop sales. In recent years, more and more Mac buyers have opted...

Apple iMac 27-inch (autumn 2009 model)

Put one of Apple's new 27-inch Core i7 iMacs on your desk, and you run the risk of alienating yourself from your friends, co-workers and loved ones. Sure, the sheer speed of the thing is amazing -- the new Core i7 processor is outrageously fast -- but...

Did we mention the screen? Sexpot good looks. Core i7 processor is ludicrously fast, and quad-core technology means you get support for next year's apps today

All-glass front enclosure is highly reflective. Screen is too big for anyone under six feet tall, unless they're sitting on a phone book. Speakers are heavy on the low-end

Apple iMac 27-inch review

All-in-one PCs have become this season's go to gadget for PC purveyors. But while Windows 7′s release has heralded a frenzy of deft desktops, Apple has returned with new take on the iMac. The new top end model, clicking in at 27-inches, is a monster...

Amazing hi-def visuals, build quality, ease of use

Price

Yes it's expensive, but this isn't just the best iMac out there, it's the best all-in-one computer

Apple iMac 27in review

Apple's iMac can now be had with a large 27in diameter display. We see how it performs.

Stunning one-piece design and a magnificent 27in screen, but the usual Apple foibles are there to drag it down

Apple iMac 27in

Stunning one-piece design and a magnificent 27in screen, but the usual Apple foibles are there to drag it down.

Whether it's worth £1,349 inc VAT to a Windows user is the big question. There's no denying it's hugely gorgeous and desirable, but we also can't look past the typical, easily avoidable Apple foibles that persist. Sure, you could replace the mouse and...
