Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Soulstorm

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Soulstorm

Manufacturer's Description

Like its predecessors, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Soulstorm is a standalone expansion, playable with or without previous iterations; and this time containing 2 new playable factions, one of which is the malicious Dark Eldar, bringing the grand total to 9. The new chapter features an entire intergalactic campaign, spanning not just a planet, but an entire star system - building on the revolutionary meta-game from Dark Crusade. Soulstorm also introduces air units, additional units for the...

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Soulstorm review

By Andrew Dagley (pcadvisor.co.uk)

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Soulstorm is certainly not a bad expansion pack, but time has certainly conspired against it.

On the whole then Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Soulstorm is certainly not a bad expansion pack, but time has certainly conspired against it. Being released almost four years after the base game much of the game is showing its legs, especially in the...

Fans of the series and the universe may find more of what they are looking for with Soulstorm, but as its retailing at nearly double the price of a typical expansion at the time of its release its appeal has certainly been limited.

Bloodthirsty fanatics and nuns with guns – heresy is Dawn Of War's new religion

We never thought Dark Elves in space suits would do it for us.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Soulstorm Review for PC

By Wesley Yin-Poole (videogamer.com)

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Soulstorm for PC Review - Will surely touch the soul of every RTS geek who's ever dreamt of being a Space Marine.

Dark Eldar are evil incarnate

Looks a tad dated

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Winter Assault

By WoLf (gamesxtreme.net)

Its a cold day in the lives of the Imperial Guard as Wolf tags along to see if Relic's new Winter Assault is a bloodbath of an expansion or a drip of snow-melt.

If you have DoW and you don't have Winter Assault then you're missing out on a great expansion, a new faction with some truly individual and excellent units and a whole lot of fun. From the Emperor's Mouth to my Ears!

Warhammer 40K: Dawn Of War Review

By Colin McCormack (ic-games.co.uk)

Excellent graphics, sound and gameplay

Not enough levels, cut scenes could be better

You then have the barbaric Orc legions. What they lack in skill and tactics, they make up in numbers and sheer bloody determination and savagery. They have seen the space marines, like what they saw and have tried to copy it, they just didn't get it...

Some of the Orc units mimic the Space Marine units, they are just not quite right. The Orc equivalent of the deadly dreadnought is called a Killer Kan, kind of like dusty bin armed with a plasma gun, rocket launcher and a chain saw. The also have the...

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Soulstorm (THQ)

By (goodgearguide.com.au)

Soulstorm comes with two new factions - the Sisters of Battle and the Dark Eldar

The Sisters of Battle really resemble the Space Marines, and the Dark Eldar play much the same as the Eldar ; the air units in Soulstorm act as mere hovercraft or helicopters

On the whole then Soulstorm is certainly not a bad expansion pack, but time has certainly conspired against it. Being released almost four years after the base game much of the game is showing its legs, especially in the graphics department.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War: Soulstorm (PC)

By (cnet.com)

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War: Soulstorm, the third and presumably final addition to the four-year-old real-time strategy franchise based on Games Workshop's billion-dollar tabletop-game system steals its best moments from 2006's fantastic Dark Crusade...

Consequently, this stand-alone add-on has a been-there, done-that vibe. Only the presence of tried-and-true action-packed gameplay, along with the introduction of two new factions and an expanded nonlinear campaign, elevates the proceedings above a...

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War (PC)

Considering the weaponry that humankind has already invented during the past couple of thousand years, it's difficult to even begin to imagine what kinds of implements of destruction will exist in the 41st millennium. However, England-based Games...

Dawn of War is the latest of these, and it's probably the best of these. Developed by seasoned real-time strategy maker Relic (best known for Homeworld and its sequel), Dawn of War is a testament to what can be so great about this style of gaming, and...

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II -- Chaos Rising

By Anthony Gallegos (gamespy.com)

The path of Chaos is tempting indeed.

Character import feature is awesome; new level cap and loot bring back the addiction; story as epic a Space Marine tale as ever

Game offers few reasons to stay on the good side; very few side missions; online play still underwhelming
