CoffeeGeek - Capresso MT 500 - Kenny Catbox's Review

So this is #1 in my quest for the best drip coffee out there. (See my #2 review of Zojiroshi Fresh Brew.)

NOTE: THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE MT-600, THE UPDATED VERSION OF THE MT-500 ; Fast hot coffee ; Attractive, quiet machine

Expensive ; Mediocre coffee doesn't justify price ; Poor (non-existent) spray arm

CoffeeGeek - Capresso MT 500 - Sam Graves's Review

I found myself in trouble when pressing the brew button on my trusty Mr. Coffee 12 Cup machine resulted in no gurgle, steam, or brew. I quickly triaged to a single cup French Press nearby to get me through the door until I could get to work to make a...

The MT500 is basic in function and rich in quality. Exactly what you should expect from a solid drip coffee maker. This makes great coffee in a short amount of time and the carafe keeps it hot and prevents the coffee from being boiled and burned on a...

Yes, the large flip top lid does require you to pull the machine out from under the counter to fill it with coffee and water. It's not a big deal to me, but apparently it bothers some people. I've seen counter top slide bases online that serve as a...

This is a drip coffeemaker and is the best one I have ever owned! I love the coffee it brews for my Daily Grind!

I purchased this coffee maker because of the Coffeegeek, first impression, and I also took to heart the other two reviews on this site. I can say that there were no surprises in the purchase nor operation of the unit. I enjoy reviews which tell it like...

The product comes packaged well. It is built solidly. It really is aesthetically appealing. It is easy to keep clean. It is very easy to fill with coffee. It is very easy to use

It is a bit on the expensive side. Pouring water into the machine requires some care as the receptacle is narrow and one can easily miss the target. DO NOT OVERFILL THE 10 CUP CAPACITY MARK or you will overflow the carafe and make a mess. The lid on...

It's like a bad love affair; I want so much to love it, but I want more to smash it with a hammer.

Here is a copy of the letter I sent to the company:

Coffee is delicious; love to look at it. Has a timer. Love a thermal carafe

It floods once a month. Coffee everywhere

Capresso should only be considered by masochists, if a user, sadists if gifting

I received this coffee maker as a gift, sent to me in the US Virgin Islands. They offered to replace the unit, but I had to return the defective unit first to them and they would then only ship to an address within the 50 states, not the US Virgin...

Looks nice, coffee comes out hot, thermal carafe holds heat well

The base of the unit leaks. Capresso service is very poor

Brews good coffee and holds at a good temperature. I haven't had the problems mentioned by others.

I haven't had most of the problems mentioned with this machine. I think it does a fine job. The one thing I'd like to see someone do is find a way to automatically preheat a thermal caraffe so you can use the overnght timer. It doesn't make sense to...

Brews great coffee and keeps it warm. Coffee is hot enough for me 1 hour after when my wife makes it. But, I don't put anything in it...if I put in cream, it would be too cool

Water level height is hard to see. Must pre-heat caraffe to keep coffee hot. Why hasn't someone thought of a way to preheat the caraffe automatically? It kinda makes the timer function worthless

Bad product w/ bad customer service - already sent back once - will have to send it back again as they didn't fix the problems at all - poor quality

Just a lousy product with lousy customer support - Already sent back once - the problems that were reported to Capresso were not fixed at all. Not a quality product but I will send back again so that I am not out the $180 that I paid. Doesn't brew...

Just a lousy product with lousy customer support - Already sent back once - the problems that were reported to Capresso were not fixed at all. Not a quality product but I will send back again so that I am not out the $180 that I paid

Doesn't brew properly - sometimes does not get all water through - makes a lot of gurgling noise, clock does not work - lots of spillage in the brewing process and while pouring

Finally! An at home coffee maker that makes "coffee shop" coffee!

I have been looking for a machine just like this. I have gone through so many at home coffee machines looking for that "coffee shop" taste to no avail. Even those bought at the "coffee shop" just did not meet the standards I was looking for. After ...

Easy to use. Coffee is piping hot and tastes wonderful!

Limited availability in walk in stores.

I Wanted to Love this Coffee Pot

The design is beautiful. Surface is smart and very easy to clean. The water resevoir top is wide making it a snap to refill. The design feature of stainless heating element is nice here in Florida where our mineral content is high and build up can ...

Nice design features

Fatal flaws you shouldn't have for the price.

Hot water, convenience... all the bennies of drip with Italian style, high-quality materials and a thermal carafe.

Read the instruction booklet!

I used a very-accurate ThermaPen we use for tempering chocolate. I got a reading of 198F (after running about 1/2-carafe of water into a COLD pot because this is my habit) as soon as the brewing light went out. That's plenty hot for my AeroPress needs,...

Nothing, really ; No kidding... can't think of a thing I don't like ; Well, my wife didn't like the loopy Capresso logo on the front. I'm a graphic designer, though, and it doesn't bother me
