JVC Picsio GC-FM1

JVC's Picsio GC-FM1 is cute, compact, and captures HD video along with 8-megapixel photos.

Attractive, compact design. Records 1440-by-1080p HD video. 8-megapixel still-image capture. HDMI out.

No USB Arm, charges via cable. Very low-quality speaker. Lacks external microphone. Subpar still images.

JVC Picsio GC-FM1 review

When jumping into a crowded market, especially one with a couple of strong players in the lead, a company has to work hard to distinguish its entries from the field. JVC successfully manages that with its debut product, the Picsio...

Nice size; macro mode; electronic image stabilization; takes SDHC cards.

Garish-looking design with hard-to-use buttons; lame software.

The JVC GC-FM1's impractical design and poor software hobble an otherwise competent mini camcorder competitor.

JVC Picsio GC-FM1

Light weight, relatively easy to use.

Close up soon leads to distortion and an unacceptable picture. It is okay if used up to a quarter of its capacity.

JVC Picsio GC-FM1

Excellent battery life, easy to link to HD TV with correct cable (not provide). Easy to use and switch between video & stills Fits in shirt pocket. Excellent images on 1080P (not on zoom though)

Forget about using the digital zoom. Terrible images when zoomed in. Pixilates etc.
