Sony HDR-CX11E review

The HDR-CX11E looks more conventional than its retro-styled sibling, the HDR-TG3E, but the two cameras share various traits.

Sony HDR-CX11E review

As one of the founding fathers of the AVCHD format (Panasonic is the other), you'd expect Sony to offer something special to the camcorders that carry its name. The Sony HDR-CX11E doesn't disappoint.

We were very impressed with the automated features such as face detection and the smile shutter as they ensured we ended up with consistently good results. The video picture quality is first-rate, too. A brighter LCD, an electronic viewfinder and some...

Since the introduction of iMovie HD in 2005, high-definition movie making has come a long way. We take a look at a group of HD camcorders to see what they have to offer the Mac-using movie maker.

Sony HDR-CX11

Sony's impressive new HDR-CX11 AVCHD camcorder is further proof that the Mpeg-4/H.264-based high-definition camcorder format is now the most affordable route to HD home video

Whether users will make use of the standard definition shooting capability is up for debate, even though it's absent on competing AVCHD models. However, the lack of a mic input and headphone input will encourage some potential buyers to look elsewhere

The touch screen control for menu functions are great and make the camera easy to use without having lots of buttons. It is an easy camera to use and its compact size is great. The zoom function is very fine and allows incredibly smooth and slow...

The function menus have so may different options that it can be a bit confusing to remember what is available and how to get to a particular option. Because of the camera compact size it does require a little practice to get smooth results when panning...
