Panasonic SDR-S150

It's not high-def and it's a tad expensive, but the pocket-friendly SDR-S150 is certainly a competent SD memory camcorder.

Panasonic SDR-S150EB-S

This camera compresses video using the MPEG2 (DVD quality) standard rather than the newer, more compact MPEG4.

Panasonic SDR-S150 review:

It sounds like the perfect vacation camcorder: weighs 10.2 ounces, three CCDs, a 10X zoom lens, 3-megapixel still photos, optical image stabilization, and SD-card recording, all for significantly less than $1,000. And that includes the 2GB SD card and...

Very compact for a 3CCD model; optical image stabilizer.

Mediocre video and barely usable stills; poor battery life; slow focus.

While compact and convenient, Panasonic's SD-based SDR-S150 camcorder doesn't make the quality cut.

Panasonic SDR-S150

Portable three-chip camcorder from Panasonic captures vivid MPEG-2 video on removable SD Cards.

Fast processor • Bright, vivid display • Zoom/enhance for viewing image attachments • Long battery life

Extra apps required for attachment editing • IM clients are not preloaded

Quick Camcorder Reviews: Panasonic SDR-S150 Camcorder

Small, simple design and high-quality video, - Lots of manual controls in a small package, - SD recording media is convenient and expandable - and durable

Relatively expensive camcorder and SD cards are expensive on a per-MB basis, - No external audio options, - Handling is awkward

Panasonic SDR-S150 Camcorder Review

The Panasonic SDR-S150 is Panasonic's update on the SDR-S100, a tiny SD card-based camcorder that manages to pack in three CCDs and a whole lot of image quality. But as far as updates go, this constitutes the bare minimum: SDHC-card compatibility and a...

Panasonic SDR-S150

However, the SDR-S150 did seem to have some issues with smooth motion. If you play back the footage through a digital connection, like the USB cable, the interlace fields become readily visible, and gives a jagged appearance to moving objects. We found...

Panasonic Sdr-s150

The Panasonic SDR S150 Flash is a great choice for the point and shoot filmmaker with some desire for manual controls. No sacrifice in film quality for size here: The Panasonic SDR S150 produces the same video performance as Panasonic's top-of-the-line...

Experts praise Panasonic SDR S150's design and easy to use controls. Unfortunately, disappointment was expressed about this camcorder's finished product: video showed interlace artifacts and trouble with white balance. Users are enthusiastic about the...

Panasonic SDR-S150EB-S

Good video and stills quality in widescreen, compact and light. Can copy from SD card directly to Panny DVD recorder for easy editing without computer

Need to rotate a switch to change between stills/video and record/playback is a bit cumbersome. Need to select slideshow from menu each time to watch stills

Excellent compact SD camcorder!

I bought this about a month ago to replace my Sony DCR-TRV 900, which, as many of you know, was a great SD camcorder at the time, and still is a great SD camcorder. (I mean, for how many electronics product can you say that after 5+ years?) The reason...

1. Good video picture quality ; 2. Compact size ; 3. Recording medium: SD/SDHC Card ; 4. OIS ; 5. Recording format: MPEG-2 ; 6. Built-in lens cover & hood ; 7. Ergonomics ; 8. Webcam function ; 9. Shape - stands on it's "feet" well, i.e., stable ; 10....

1. Lack of external mic input (this is a bit surprising since it has a headphone output port) ; 2. 4GB is the max SD size it will accept (But this may not be a big issue since the battery life is only about 60 min anyway - 4GB records about 60 min...

Product Specifications

Panasonic is pleased to introduce the SDR-S150 SD Video Camera. As with the S100, the S150 records onto a postage-sized SD memory card. The SD card has made it possible to create a video camera so small it can sit in your palm or slip into a pocket or handbag, it's a camcorder you can take anywhere and use anytime. But don't let the size fool you. The ultra-compact S150 is packed full of Panasonic's smartest digital technologies to give you clear, vivid true-to-life images every time you shoot. The S150 improves on its predecessor by accepting the new 4GB SDHC Memory Card, a next-generation media that allows recording for up to 3 hours and 20 minutes. The S150 packs a wealth of Panasonic's top image-enhancing technologies into a conveniently small, easy-to-handle body. The 3CCD camera system, the type used in most professional broadcast equipment delivers superb color reproduction, finer detail and richer gradation that means image quality and impact is true to life when compared with conventional 1CCD camera systems. The SDR-S150 also incorporates Optical Image Stabilizer (O.I.S), a benefit generally reserved for prosumer cameras. O.I.S gives you crisp, clear shots in scenes where blurring used to be a problem, resulting in crisp, clear, beautiful moving pictures and still images. Leica Camera AG is renowned by photographers world-wide as a maker of superb cameras and lenses. Now this legendary optical technology fuses with Panasonic's advanced digital technology in the Leica Dicomar Lens. The S150's brilliant new lens features 12 lens elements in 8 groups and uses low-dispersion optical glass to reduce chromatic aberration. A special multi-coating process is applied to 14 lens surfaces, minimizing harmful reflections to deliver crisp, clear images free of flare and ghosting.
