The Panasonic PV-DV852 is one of Panasonic's high end MiniDV camcorders. The PV-DV852 has an MSRP of $1599 and a street price around $1100 and offers excellent picture quality.

The upper crust of consumer camcorders

If you're not quite ready to jump into the very expensive world of professional-grade digital video, the DV852 is a good compromise. It stands at the top of the consumer-level units in terms of quality, features and optics, for under $1000. I could...

PANASONIC PV-DV852

The purpose of this feedback to help others in the same way that I was helped by earlier hands on reviews by purchasers.

Excellent picture, good low light, excellent ergonomics.

Can't think of any.

Great single-chip camera

I shopped the Canon 100mc, and the Sony TVR30 before deciding on this one.

Outstanding picture sharpness/quality ; excellent optical image stabilization ; Good low light performance

Audio (mic&line input) only average. Zoom takes a-while to master ; Auto-exposure icons difficult to decipher
