Sensible price, lots of accessories available, rugged, beautiful images in good light

Screen is optional extra, waterproof housing can be a faff, not well suited to normal video camera activity

For less than £200 you can get an HD camcorder that produces vivid, high-quality, 1080p video.

GoPro Hero 3

The GoPro Hero 3 Silver and White editions are strong contenders in the sports-camera market, but the faster, more powerful Black Edition is head and shoulders the best sports camera on the market today.

Smaller, lighter than previous Hero 2 ; Built-in Wi-Fi ; Black Edition offers a number of ultra-high-resolution capture modes and high frame rates for standard HD resolutions ; Burst speeds for still photos has been greatly improved

Good photo/video quality, large number of mounting options and replacement parts, shockproof, waterproof

No viewfinder, tiny LCD display, two button interface menu, bad performance in low light conditions

GoPro Motorsports HD Hero has a great video and photograph quality. There are lots of mounting options and is shock proof and waterproof. Buy it if you don't mind the tiny screen and the two button interface.
