JVC Everio GZ-HD620 Camcorder Review

The GZ-HD620 is a mid-range HD camcorder from JVC that records to an internal 120GB hard drive as well as offering a MicroSD card slot. The camcorder is low on frills, captures high-quality video, and has a reasonable price tag of $649.

JVC GZ-HD620

A midrange model, with a big hard drive, high quality video, few frills, and a reasonable price

Very strong color and noise performance; Also strong on motion and sharpness

Using the Laser Touch strip is a pain; Almost no manual controls

The JVC GZ-HD620 is a solid mid-range HD camcorder that is fairly-priced with its $649 MSRP. The camcorder is low on manual controls, and its construction feels somewhat cheap, but it did well in our performance testing in both low and bright light.

Review: JVC Everio GZ-HD620 camcorder

Note: This article was updated to clarify some details. Just to be clear the HD620 does not record at 1080p. It is a 1080i camcorder that upconverts its output to 1080/60p. The company's literature is confusing and it often throws around ambiguous...

Picture quality is amazing in comparison to standard definition cameras ; Easy to transfer movie files direct to my PC and then burn to DVD

Grainy picture in low light ; Picture a little shuddering with moving objects

Great little camera

Still new to the camera, but seems to be a great unit. Not sure the picture quality is what I would call excellent on large screen HDTV, but good enough. For the price, I\'m not sure you can do better that this one.
