The Canon ZR50MC is a nicely engineered, easy to use, high-quality camcorder for home video, as well as a useful tool for those who want to edit.

 

The Canon ZR30 MC, with its excellent image quality and manual features, packs a punch at just under $1,000.

Mini DV at under $1,000, Excellent images, Good array of features, Multiple tape speeds, Two included batteries, Good value

You could do better

 

I have had problems with this camera. It gets its job done most of the time, but my audio speakers for playback have stopped working. This happened shortly after I purchased my first one so I took it back and then it happened again to the second one...

Great first camara... I think.

 

I received this as a generous Christmas gift (thanks Dad!) and have been experimenting and using it for a couple of weeks now. This is the ONLY camcorder I've ever used, though I have a years worth of experience using an Olympus D490 Zoom digital still...

Small size, 22x optical zoom, accessory shoe, decent battery life.

Minor motor noise apparent, requires manual adjustment for low light recording.
