Canon Legria HF R106 review

The HF R106 is Canon's cheapest AVCHD camera. It doesn't look like a budget model, thanks to its petite, curvy design that's in keeping with Canon's more upmarket cameras. There are various omissions that distinguish it from these pricier models, though.

No major flaws but lacking in various key areas. Plus, it's more expensive than many superior video cameras

Good all rounders

Not so good in dark situations and the compensation for movement of the camera can sometimes go a bit off when it's still (just switch the compensation off if that's the case) but otherwise great bit of kit. Definitely worth the money.

A case of switching on the camera & pressing record...pretty simple

No HDMI lead provided but apart from that no complaints

Great little camcorder, easy to use, easy to download to PC or TV

Shame it does not come with a case

Picture quality. Ease of use. Compact and light.

The microphone recorded the noise of the autofocus motor to such an extent that it spoilt any recording made indoors or in a quiet area. It sounded like a saucepan lid rattling on a boiling saucepan.

East to carry and when you have fingers like sausages its still generally easy to use .

Battery life could be better but purchasing a couple of spares solves the problem
