JVC GR-D240: Quality comes without a price

I was never really sure if a budget camera would suit me. I'd decided I needed to change my current camera, which I bought 3yrs ago for £1200. I didn't really want to spend that much again. And at a price of a shade under £200 this was a bargain. As...

Product Specifications

Thanks to an innovative ergonomic design, the curvaceous body of this camera is especially easy and comfortable to operate. With a progressive scan mode, Canon's unique Optical Image Stabilizer and optical 12x compact zoom lens (48x digital), constant high quality image and color reproduction is assured. Camera shake is virtually eliminated with Canon's Optical Image Stabilizer system, which is mounted into the lens-barrel. This allows part of the optical system to move vertically and horizontally in relation to the optical axis, therefore keeping images sharp and steady. Equipped with Canon's award winning progressive scan CCD image sensor, the MV30 can also be used as a fully featured still camera. This model features a slim, horizontal, flip-out, color LCD screen and a 113, 000-pixel, 0.44 inch color viewfinder. The large, 3.5-inch, side-mounted LCD screen has a high resolution of 200, 000 pixels, and can be moved to a variety of positions for recording and playback, making viewing simple with clear, sharp images. Copying onto a VHS tape is easy with a push of the camera's play button and using the digital picture effects offered by the MV30 (such as black and white, sepia, multi-screen and fading) images can be effectively enhanced. Other features include 7 program AE modes (to adjust exposure for different situations) and DCM digital sound.
