Panasonic DMP-UB900 review

Digital cinema finally comes home

Breathtaking picture quality ; 4K Netflix and Amazon on board ; First-class audio CD playback

Hard to justify if you don't have an HDR TV ; Some elements of the UI look clunky ; Chassis is a fingerprint magnet

Supreme with 4K HDR Blu-ray discs but also a cracking all-round media player, Panasonic's DMP-UB900 is a must-have for AV enthusiasts.

Panasonic DMP-UB900 review: Ultra-HD Blu-ray master class

Taking a step into the future is Ultra HD Blu-ray, looking to up the quality and make the most out of the latest 4K televisions, all for your entertainment pleasure. The Panasonic DMP-UB900 is pitched towards the high-end and it has all the performance...

Video quality, build quality, solid remote, lots of audio options, great upscaling

Price, UI feels a little dated, streaming services feel like a second thought

The Panasonic DMP-UB900 is pitched towards the high-end and it has all the performance to support it, offering high quality audio and stunning visuals. There's wider appeal for those wanting greater audio options, too, offering more options than the...

Panasonic DMP-UB900 review - the best Ultra HD Blu-ray player you can buy right now

If money's no object and you want to start watching Ultra HD Blu-rays right now, the DMP-UB900 is the best player you can currently buy

However, whether it’s worth jumping aboard the Ultra HD bandwagon right now is another discussion entirely. It’s only a matter of time before we start seeing other Ultra HD Blu-ray players come to market, and, just like 4K TVs, the price of them is...

Panasonic DMP-UB900

The UB900 is essentially the posh half of Ultra HD Blu-ray's UK launch. Ultra HD Blu-ray, for those new to all this, is the next-generation of Blu-ray that supports 4K and High Dynamic Range (HDR) – a new standard for colour and picture brightness and...

Panasonic DMP-UB900 review

Watch out, Netflix. This 4K Blu-ray player could be the future of home cinema.

Remarkable clarity and contrast ; Backlit remote ; Plenty of connections

It’s not exactly cheap

Five stars. Movies at home have never looked this good.

Panasonic DMP-UB900 Ultra HD Blu-ray player review: A great choice for audiophiles and home theater buffs

This is the only Blu-ray player we've seen that can also play DSD audio files, but don't pay the premium price unless you can take full advantage of its advanced features.

Excellent playback of commecial UHD Blu-ray discs ; Can decode 2.8- and 5.6MHz DSD audio files ; Stereo and 7.1-channel analog audio outputs

Supports fewer media file formats than the competition ; Overpopulated remote ; Price tag limits its appeal (unless you're an audiophile or home theater buff)

Panasonic goes for the 4K Blu-ray high-end: DMP-UB900 coming in September for $700

It was 10 years ago that Panasonic introduced one of the first Blu-ray players, the DMP-BD10, and as a first-generation product it cost a small fortune: $1,300.
