LG BP550 Review

 

On the inside and outside, the LG BP550 doesn't have the premium features found in the best 3D Blu-ray players. However, with its strong software foundation, the LG BP550 has the versatility needed to be a valuable part of your entry-level home theater.

LG loads the BP550 with a strong suite of preinstalled apps.

The BP550 has a basic set of features compared to competing Blu-ray players.

While it lacks high-end features, the LG BP550 can be a useful tool in your home theater setup if you simply need basic functionality.

A good machine overall

 

Overall I am very pleased with the DVD player. It was an easy set up and the assistance given by LG is beyond approach. Only minor problem is that at times the machine disconnects and I have to unplug it and replug it for it to work.

BP550 freezes repeatedly

 

When selecting the icons at the bottom of the screen, or selecting the 'premium' icon I get the black screen with the red circle (meaning the unit is thinking) then ti goes back to where I started. It does this about 90% of the time.

I have not tested the 3D capabilities yet. Awaiting to get a 3D TV!

EVERYTHING about this is AWESOME! Remote only uses 1 AAA battery. I got this because I have loads of movies on my external HDD that is connected to my network. I LOVE to have all the movies at my finger tips. If you have tons of movies and want to...

Very Good Unit

 

So far this device has exceeded my expectations. I got it for wireless connection in the bedroom for Netflix, You-Tube, etc. Not only does it connect for those very well, but it also sees the shares on my home network and plays MKV and MP4 movies on...

Sometimes it will lose signal abruptly from network. But as is with all networks, a reset of the router will restore connection no problem.
