Panasonic SC-PM71

We were genuinely excited when we began unpacking the SC-PM71, as SD Card storage is rapidly growing and a device like this is the first of its kind. ...

Excellent sound quality with pumping bass, convenience of SD card recording and storage, included SD card player

Only 128MB SD Card included, CD tray slow to open

The SC-PM71 is an exceptional sounding unit which has the added convenience of an included portable music player and the ability to record and share via the popular SD card medium. An excellent product but perhaps a little on the pricey side.

Panasonic SC-PM71 SD Micro System

Look! It's a Micro HiFi System! It's a portable MP3 player! It's not up in the sky, and it's not without its minor quibbles, but if you need a micro system and an MP3 player with only moderate storage capabilities, it's a good option to pursue.

Includes MP3 player ; SD Recording capabilities ; Easy route to digitising old audio tape

SD Recording could be simpler ; Not terribly price competitive ; Track naming is a chore

Obviously the Panasonic SC-PM71 will only sell to those looking for a Micro system to begin with, although the inclusion of a portable MP3 player could tilt it into the favoured basket -- we can see it being a good choice option for parents of...

"Good Sound System"

In Japan and South Korea this unit also has a DVD version which allows transfers from DVD/CD to SD (SC-PM910DVD) at high speed.

I bought this model with a mini disc included as well. It didn't come with a portable SD player but its great to be able to copy from CD to tape, MD or SD, MD to SD or tape, SD to MD or tape. It also records in MDLP. And its also cheap - AUS$370

An improvement would be to include optical input/optical output so that an external digital source can be added. I can't connect my wireless Dolby Digital headphones and need to connect them to the external DVD player to get digital output
