The Z2000 really does cut the cinephile mustard
Excellent black level; Quiet running noise; Super-sharp images
Noticeable iris ---grind--- noise; Ordinary standard-definition performance; Plain ugly
Overall, this can be considered an above average performer. Factor in the price and the Z2000 begins to look like a bit of a steal. Its black level performance alone should be enough to convince doubters that LCD can take it to any other projection format...
Sanyo has been a quiet champion of LCD projection for a number of years, scoring some critical hits with its Z-series of projectors. Its latest iteration is the PLV-Z2000, a Full HD 1920 x 1080 model that makes the bold promise of a 15,000:1...
A fine projector: well worth considering, especially if you hunt down a competitive price
Ideally, we'd like a more dynamic image, with blacker blacks
Good image quality; plenty of adjustability; quiet; well-equipped
Accurate color decoding; independent memory per input; comprehensive connectivity; includes both horizontal and vertical lens shift.
Primary and secondary color accuracy is way off, particularly red and green.
While Sanyo's PLV-Z2000 1080p projector does have some performance shortcomings, it's nonetheless a very good value.
Sanyo's LCD-based PLV-Z2000, is an extremely well-priced, 1080p resolution projector that delivers reasonably good performance for the dollar. Design The Sanyo PLV-Z2000's outward appearance belies the fact that little or no effort or money was...
A fine projector: well worth considering, especially if you hunt down a competitive price
Set-up is easy, thanks to simple thumbwheel controls for horizontal and vertical lens shift, and the Sanyo€™s backlit remote is every bit as approachable as the on-screen menus
Calling the PLV-Z2000 perfect wouldn't be right. Its black levels aren't deep enough, SD rescaling could be improved, and HD images are too soft. On the other hand, ergonomics are flawless.
- Silent, - Connectivity, - Powerful zoom and lens-shift, - Automatic opening of lens cover, - Complete and back-lit remote
- Imposing, - No dynamic iris, - Black isn't deep, - ''Soft'' image processing
Qualifier the PLV-Z2000 perfect would not be fair: black level not very deep, upscale SD perfectible, image HD too soft ... He suggested, however, a flawless ergonomics.
It is a great time to be a home theater enthusiast. Sure, the format war between rivals HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc has been distracting. But the price of 1080p projectors has fallen from the stratosphere to price levels many can actually afford. Prices of 10...
? Good Value, ? Easy placement with H/V Lens shift and 2:1 zoom lens, ? Whisper Quiet, ? No Light Spill into room
? Not very bright, ? Poor Documentation (Mounting screw size unavailable), ? Black levels could be improved, ? Cosmetic's of exterior case not fitting snugly together
Going into this review I wasn't sure what type of image to expect from a "budget" 1080p projector. While the image produced is quite acceptable, there are a few shortcomings that I found. Most notable was light output that wasn't quite as bright as I was

SANYO has finally done it: a 1080p home theater projector with beautiful picture quality at a reasonable price. The one we've been waiting for has arrived.
Let's face it; I love the SANYO PLV-Z series projectors and the Z2000 has done nothing to change that opinion. I still have a PLV-Z2, and I've coveted the Z5 since our original review. But the Z2000 is really the one I've been waiting for. When fed high q...
