Is the presense of wireless enough to make this Lexmark all-in-one a contender?
It would be good to be able to sing the praises of the X4550 and its wireless connection makes it particularly easy to deploy - it doesn't have to be tethered to your PC. However, that's about all we can say in its favour. It's very slow, particularly ...
The X4550 is styled in ice-white, brushed aluminium and light grey and follows Lexmark's usual, rounded-slab design. As well as the USB and wireless drivers, Lexmark provides its Solution Centre, which handles maintenance, and Imaging Studio,...

On the surface, the X3550 appears to be a budget workhorse of a printer with the enticing option of wireless connectivity. It's a pity then, that the wireless is so expensive to include, and the printer itself so slow.
Optional Wi-Fi ; cartridge recycling envelope provided
Slow print speeds ; Wi-Fi option is expensive
Lexmark provides starter cartridges (one color, one black) with the X3550, along with a USB cable -- many printer vendors aren't quite so friendly in this respect -- and driver CDs for Windows and Mac platforms

The Lexmark X4550 offers what most all-in-ones in this price range don't: Wireless networking. Casual home users who value network-readiness will love that feature, but users who want better print quality will be happier with a different machine.
Built-in wireless networking ; good colour scans ; onboard memory card slots and PictBridge port ; speedy text prints
Print quality needs improvement ; very slow 4R photo prints
The X4550's text print quality left a lot to be desired on our tests. Black text tended toward dark grey rather than true black. Additionally, we saw a lot of jagged edges and wicking, even though we printed on Lexmark's premium paper. The color ...

Lexmark's X4550 is the only wireless model here, and, ironically, the only one that comes with a USB lead included.
Now if only it would run on batteries... WiFi is handy if you don't need top results.

A light all-in-one device, albeit one that still demands a reasonable desk footprint, Lexmark's X4550 is heavily targeting those with a wireless network in their home. That's down to one of its box-stated features being the ...
A decent device at a welcome price, but those who bank on their printing and scanning are advised to spend a little more.
Improve computer performance with Auslogics BoostSpeed free downloadBut if the old clich is that all-in-one devices are jack of all and master of none, Lexmark is a key witness for the prosecution. In colour, the speed drops a lot - we couldn't...

Unparalleled convenience at a lower than ever price, but is it any good?
Easy to install Wi-Fi connectivity ; Cheap cartridge costs
Soft print quality ; Very slow photo printing ; So-so scanner ; Price Comparison ; Lexmark X4550 all in one
The Lexmark X4550 is a cute and small unit given its all-in-one status, and is styled using the now-obligatory white plastic iNod to Apple's design studio. The snap-on front panel (one per language, apparently) and the Wi-Fi logo glow yellowy-green ...
If you are remote printing, chances are you might not need to see this, but if you are attempting scanning from printer to computer, and then switching back to printing, you'll need to be shuttling between the two devices. Design and appearanceThe...

This AIO (all in one) product also has the ability to be totally hidden, not that it is ugly but ladies often decree no printers in the lounge so this can live in a cupboard somewhere without any wires trailing from the PC as it is wireless.
There is of course some OCR software in the package and this worked well providing the original page was not creased or crumpled, however always check any output as even the best OCR package is only 99% accurate

With the X4550, Lexmark has built wireless LAN connectivity into an MFP for less than £100....
Wi-Fi, Excellent scans, Easy to use
Slow, Scanning requires wired connection
You get a lot for your money in the box with the Lexmark X4550, and the standard wireless connectivity is an interesting offering. Scan quality is good and while plain paper printing is very good, photo printing with the supplied cartridges is ...
