The Palm Treo 800w brings the addition of Wi-Fi and GPS. The Windows Mobile 6.1 smartphone also offers EV-DO Rev. A support; a higher resolution touch screen; a slimmer design; and a 2-megapixel camera.
The Treo 800w can be sluggish at times and call quality could be better. The QWERTY keyboard may also give users some problems.
With the addition of Wi-Fi and GPS, the Palm Treo 800w finally catches up to some of its competition and even offers a better design. The Windows Mobile smartphone will be a good fit for Sprint's business customers, if the battery life can keep up.
The Palm Treo 800w is infinitely more compact than the Palm Treo 700p. One big improvement over previous Treos is that the Treo 800w now has a 2.5-inch, 320x320 pixel resolution touch screen (versus 320x240), bringing it up to speed with the...
The Treo 800W, surprisingly, is the first Treo to offer Wi-Fi connectivity (802.11b/g). How Palm let something so basic go for so long is a mystery, but it's here now so the past is forgiven. Palm has even added a convenient Wi-Fi button to the top of the...
Also new, and not nearly so long overdue, is GPS reception. The device can pinpoint your location and even find nearby businesses (give it a long time to lock onto your position, the first time you use it). The 800W is only carried by Sprint, and for $2.9...
Business users who prefer Palm should definitely pick up the Treo 800w, which is available for $249 from Sprint with a two-year contract. GSM users, however, will want the sleek new Treo Pro, which we'll be reviewing in the next couple weeks. Check back f...
Palm fans can relax for a little while: the handheld giant delivered a fine catch-up business phone with the Treo 800W, finally offering Wi-Fi and GPS to a grateful user base. The Treo 800W, surprisingly, is the first Treo to offer Wi-Fi...
It could be argued that the word "Treo" was on its way to becoming the Kleenex of smartphones. Just as people refer to MP3 players as iPods even if they're not made by Apple (much to the chagrin of the actual manufacturer), the Treo brand almost became me...
Feels great in hand and one-handed operation is a breeze. Excellent keyboard, fast device overall. Has the big four features for a business PDA phone: GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth and EVDO. GPS works well and Sprint Navigation and is a champ for Sprint TV.
Below average incoming call quality. GPS doesn't work in a turnkey fashion with standalone commercial GPS software packages like CoPilot. Looks plasticky. Camera is so-so. Battery capacity is low and as a result battery life suffers. WinMo runs most scree...
and the Treo 700wx): twice as much memory. That's an important point for power users who want to run several applications simultaneously.
Palm's struggles have become legendary in recent years. As the company buys time to work on its elusive OS revamp, Palm is busy repackaging earlier technology to remain solvent. The new Treo 800w for Sprint is different, however. It's a significant and ov...
Superb voice quality. High-resolution LCD. Integrates Wi-Fi and GPS radios. Plenty of bundled software.
Poor battery life. Lacks enough horsepower for Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional. Finicky touch screen. Flimsy stylus.
Palm finally brings its Windows Mobile-based Treo line up to spec, but its poor battery life and obstinate touch screen are letdowns.
In short, like the Centro, the Treo 800w is a base hit for Palm, but the company really needs a home run. Benchmark Test Results Continuous talk time (GSM): 3 hours 21 minutes SPB Benchmark: 240.06 CPU index: 1498.97 File system index: 158.59...
It's been a year and a half since Palm released the Treo 750. The landscape of mobile phones has changed quite a bit since then. Everyone is clamoring for touch screen devices with animated flashy finger-friendly interfaces. Luckily Palm is immune to the

At first I thought the speed of the Treo 800w was just my imagination since I had been using the animation-heavy Touch Diamond previously. But then I compared it to the TyTN II running Windows Mobile 6.1. The Treo 800w is actually
The struggling handheld manufacturer defies naysayers with a surprisingly well-equipped Treo-although its picky touch screen, too-slow CPU, and poor battery life are disappointing.
In short, like the Centro, the Treo 800w is a base hit for Palm, but the company really needs a home run. The Treo 800w's well-balanced design and rubbery grip is a pleasant middle ground between the small but cramped Centro and the bulky Motorola...

Even though the Palm Centro has managed to achieve a modest level of success, the Treo branding is starting to get a little old and a little stale. Far too many people have left their Palm Treos behind in favor of another company's Windows Mobile device,
