The Bold 9700 is the best of the BlackBerry bunch, offering all the features that made previous models great and improving on everything else. It may not be as innovative as its smart-phone rivals, but its zippy performance, vivid screen and reliable ...
Easy-to-use Qwerty keyboard ; push email ; vivid screen ; good apps available ; zippy optical trackpad ; great connectivity, including Wi-Fi
User interface is useful but dull ; Web browser is comparatively poor ; keyboard isn&apos ; t as clicky as on other BlackBerry devices ; apps can be expensive
RIM's Bold 9700 is the best of the BlackBerry bunch, keeping all the features we loved on previous models and improving on everything else. A better camera, smaller size and cool optical trackpad make it a worthy successor to the excellent BlackBerry ...

Sleeker design (compared with the earlier Bold) that includes an optical trackpad ; 3.5mm headphone jack ; brilliant display ; 3G capable and Wi-Fi with UMA support ; Bluetooth ; GPS ; faster processor and updates to BlackBerry OS 5.0
BlackBerry browser doesn't compare to the competition ; compact size results in a smaller display and keyboard, but they aren't deal-breakers
The RIM BlackBerry Bold 9700 looks nothing like its predecessor. Gone is the wide, masculine body and in its place is a more svelte, compact smartphone that should fulfill RIM's hope of attracting both men and women, and consumers and professionals. ...

The BlackBerry has little to worry about from the competition when it produces stuff like this.

The original BlackBerry Bold did quite a lot of good for RIM in terms of carrying it away from its purely business-user focus and towards a wider audience. The Bold 9700 does yet more, maintaining a ...
The BlackBerry Bold 9700 updates the original Bold nicely with a sleeker physical design, optical trackpad and boosted camera among its new fixtures and fittings. It isn't the most capable smartphone, but it is potentially a good choice for those who ...

The BlackBerry Bold 9700 is more compact than its 9000 predecessor, but still offers a superb mini-QWERTY keyboard and a good screen. For business users seeking a little extra consumer glitz, it's an excellent choice.
Superb mini-QWERTY keyboard, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, HSDPA, GPS, 3.5mm headset connector, Good battery life
Web browser needs updating, Screen is slightly smaller than the Bold 9000's
The Bold 9700 is smaller all round than its predecessor at 60mm wide by 109mm tall by 14.1mm thick, and weighs 122g. The original Bold measured 66mm by 114mm by 15mm and weighed 136g. That slight decrease in size means that both the screen and the ...

The BlackBerry Bold was one of the world's finest messaging smartphones. But is its successor, the fitter, leaner looking 9700, a worthy successor?
Solid and well made. Compact design. User-friendly and easy-to-set-up push email service. Tactile QWERTY. Vivid display. Integrated 3.5mm headphone jack
Average camera and video capture resolution. App Store still a bit threadbare

A smaller, lighter upgrade to the original Bold
Small and light; decent battery life
Mobile browsing can be slow; over-sensitive trackpad
The Bold 9700 is a worthwhile upgrade for anyone using the older 9000 model as a smaller and lighter version, and is a very capable emailing device, but it's not as strong in mobile browsing.
