Nikon D300

By Ellis Benton

The Nikon D300 stands out in the crowded dSLR market. Its hot technologies -- a Live View screen, advanced autofocusing, digital lighting -- and faultless image quality are incorporated into a rock solid, high speed shell. The result is a camera that, whi...

Huge Live View LCD with 920,000 pixels; high speed focusing and shooting; impeccable 12-megapixel photos; built to last

Heavy; expensive

While it doesn't have any truly revolutionary features, the Nikon D300 incorporates hot new technologies -- a stunning Live View screen, advanced autofocusing, digital lighting -- and faultless image quality into a rock solid, high speed shell. The result...

The Nikon D300 straddles the consumer and professional markets, offering the raw power and image quality that pros demand, alongside more popular features such as a large screen, hi-def support and Live View framing. We tested it using the Nikon...

Nikon D300: Review

By Alan Sircom

A big leap forward? You bet. See how the D300 shapes up against Nikon's D2X...

Top notch performance Tank like build quality Excellent displays Breaks the high ISO barrier

Necessarily complex No in-body VR Creates jealousy pangs in D2X users

Having the same sensor size and battery as the D2X is impressive, but does not make the Nikon D300 a groundbreaking camera. What does make the D300 groundbreaking is the way it draws together most of the best functions seen in cameras across the board for...

The D300 files - aside from being cropped - are unchanged, straight out the camera: D300 ISO: 200 400 800 1600 3200 6400 D2X ISO: 200 400 800 1600 3200 The Nikon D300 offers a mighty range of pre and post-processing colour modes. A 2005 vintage...

Nikon D300 digital SLR camera review

By Gavin Stoker

Nikon's D300 is a good-quality, semi pro/enthusiast dSLR camera.

While pictures are stunning, there's no getting away from the fact that while to a professional the Nikon D300 is a budget buy, to the average consumer it's a wallet-battering investment. Still, you get what you pay for and, having also taken the D300 alo...

Nikon D300 digital SLR camera reviewNikon's D300 is a good-quality, semi pro/enthusiast dSLR camera. The Nikon D300 is built like a tank and, like the Canon EOS 40D, has two LCDs - a high-resolution 3in screen dominating the rear and a second...

Nikon D300

By Dave Stevenson

Consumer-level DSLRs such as the Canon 400D (web ID: 97741) and Nikon D40x (web ID: 117800) offer an excellent route into serious digital photography but, after a certain amount of time, users are likely to outgrow their entry-level equipment. This is whe...

An expensive camera, but one offering superb image quality, features and handling.

Nikon - D300

12.3-megapixel SLR

An excellent value-for-money SLR with impressive image quality and handling. Picture quality is comparable to some of the £2,000+ pro SLRs on the market and there are enough new features and improvements in performance to justify an upgrade from the old D...

The Nikon D300 is probably one of the most important releases for Nikon so far. The 12.3 million effective pixel CMOS sensor makes the D300 capable of shooting images up to 4,288 x 2,848 resolution, and annoying artefacts shouldn't be too much of...

Nikon D300 review

By Dennis Hissink

Nikon D300 DSLR Review : Nikon produced a fabulous digital SLR camera with the new D300. A SLR camera you can't get around as an advanced photographer and I can imagine the competition being very impressed with the impact the D300 has made. The shortcomin...

Nikon D300 Live view LCD Monitor A welcoming addition is the LCD monitor on the back of the Nikon D300. The Nikon D300 has become a smaller version of the Nikon D3 and that is a real compliment. Nikon D300 Review 12 Megapixels will deliver large...

Nikon D300 | Our Review | TechRadar UK

The D300 is a professional camera capable of producing superb images and it feels like it's been hewn out of granite. But it's also heavy and expensive - and now overshadowed, perhaps, by Nikon's own D3

Excellent specification; Fantastic performance; Solid build

Vague navipad; Very expensive next to its rivals; Bulky

Live View modes also raise the spectre of dust - a perennial problem with digital SLRs anyway. But if the mirror's going to be up and the shutter open for extended periods of time while you compose the shot on the LCD, dust spots become much more likely.

The Nikon D200 was a truly great camera that offered professional performance at an enthusiast's price. But Nikon clearly thought that it could do even better. And the result of its thinking is the brand-new D300, a camera that looks outwardly...

REVIEW: Nikon D300 DSLR camera

By Doug Harman

Excellent image quality, excellent ergonomics, great design and control layout, menu system, good combination of usability, control and custom modes plus value for money.

Slight issues over white balance control but otherwise, well, nothing really.

Billed as a professional model by Nikon it looks set to capture a big slice of the market.

The D300 also sports a dust removal/reduction system that shakes the camera's anti-alias filter over the sensor; this is a first for a Nikon DSLR. The trend of camera makers removing top-plate data LCDs has been avoided here by Nikon, the D300...
